Payment of Property Taxes

Property taxes are the main source of funding for the city’s many services and programs such as police and fire protection, codes enforcement, and parks. Taxes are due on October 1 and will be considered delinquent and subject to penalty and interest charges of one and half (1.5) percent each per month from March 1 of the following year.

Taxes are due October 1 of each year and are delinquent the following March 1.

  • Payments by cash, personal check, money order or credit cards are accepted.

  • You can also pay by phone by calling 1-877-589-9934
  • Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment if a receipt is needed. Receipts are only sent if requested.
  • Property taxes can be paid by mail to 900 Waterford Place, Kingston TN 37763 or in person at City Hall. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
  • City Property Tax Rate: $1.31 per $100 assessed value
 

Property Tax Assessment

The property tax assessment is provided by the Roane County Property Assessor as the city does not appraise property. Questions regarding the appraised value of property should be directed to the Property Assessor’s Office at 865-376-4362
 

State Property Tax Relief

The City of Kingston participates in a State of Tennessee program that helps elderly and disabled citizens below certain income guidelines pay their property taxes.
