The Kingston Public Works Department will be collecting residential brush and leaves throughout the year. To ensure efficient collection and prevent damage to equipment, please follow these guidelines when placing brush and leaves at the curb:

Brush and leaves left for collection must meet the following guidelines:

  • Our equipment cannot collect brush or leaves placed beneath overhead obstructions, such as tree limbs or low-hanging utility lines or cables.
  • Brush and leaves must be placed at the curbside, not in the street, on sidewalks, or blocking utility meters, poles, fire hydrants, parking spaces, or drainage ditches.
  • Each brush pile must not exceed 4 feet wide x 4 feet tall x 10 feet long.
  • Brush and limbs must be neatly stacked in 4-foot x 4-foot piles with the cut ends facing the same direction. Leaves and other debris cannot be mixed with brush.
  • Please call ahead regarding stumps or limbs larger than 12 inches in diameter.
  • Leaves must be free of tree branches and twigs, as these can cause the vacuums to clog.
  • All leaves must be placed outside fenced areas. If there is no other location on your property to rake your leaves, rake them to the end or side of your driveway.
  • Leaves can also be placed in plastic bags.
  • Lumber or construction materials will not be collected.
  • Brush from commercial, industrial, construction, or land-clearing projects is not part of the residential brush collection program and will not be collected.
